Life Update

Wow, I think this is the longest that I have gone without posting. Sine November! Thanksgiving! Wow! Let's see if I can update you all on our life since then. So much has happened. 1) We had a California Christmas with my parents before they moved here to San Angelo. We got to tour the Jelly Belly factory, go on a whale watch, and peruse the streets of San Francisco as well as hike through some of the tallest trees I've ever seen. It was a grand trip. 2) Also celebrated Christmas with the precious Rose's. It's nice when we can all get together and hang out. The kids definitely had a great time making Jesus' birthday cake. So adorable! 3) I GRADUATED WITH MY MASTERS FROM UTA! Yes, it's that exciting. It has been difficult transitioning to non-student life but I know I'll get there. 4) Well, with new years come changes. So, we decided to go ahead and adopt another dog and welcomed home little Kinley at the beginning of February. She's the total opposite of Kiana which is a good and bad thing. :/ Never a full moment. 5) Spring Break this year included Disney World and Harry Potter "World" for my mom, my sister, and myself. It was a fun trip and went by way too fast. I can't wait to get to go back there again and hopefully bring Karl next time. 6) May 2nd marked Karl's and my 3rd anniversary. Can you believe it? It's weird to me to think that we have been married for three years already, to see all that we have gone through and how much we have changed and grown in just three years - it's amazing! 7) I earned teacher of the week for San Angelo at the end of the school year. It was such a precious time with many tears, all of happiness. The students kept asking me if I was cryin tears of happiness. Sweet things! I miss them already! 8) KARL HAS A NEW JOB! Yes, after a whirlwind of events, some more drawn out than others, Karl did indeed begin a new career, although it is not what we had originally in line. Isn't it funny how those things work? He has been doing some training for the pas two weeks and already he absolutely loves it. I'm so proud of him and excited to see what the Lord has in store for him in his new career. 9) We have paid off over $17,000 in debt since starting Financial Peace last August, including paying for my Masters. As of today all we have left is "good debt" and we hope to keep going strong and take care of the majority of it in the upcoming year. We. Ant wait to get to that point where we have NO DEBT! We can do it! 10) We officially own NO vehicles as the Oldsmobile took its last breath two weekends ago. Shed a tear! So, my mom and I have been test driving some vehicles to prepare for a new one. We'll see what happens in the upcoming month or so. We were planning on starting to save for a new vehicle but we basically have to get one now. My gracious father in law has been letting me drive his truck while we save up for a car. I am so thankful for my in laws! 11) Almost forgot the 5S family reunion. It's always nice getting to see family and I love hanging out with Sharon's side of the family. Always laughs and stories. :) 12) Memorial day weekend, Amanda, Karl, and I jumped on a plane and headed to Michigan for our Little Grandma's 100th birthday celebration. It is so beautiful up there and I think that we had a really good time getting to see family and old friends. I think that sums up life since thanksgiving. I'm sure I forgot something so I will be sure and update as I think of things. Currently I am attending workshops (go figure) while Karl is training and enjoying his new job. I am trying to get off my butt and workout but I haven't been that motivated while Karl has been gone. Pray that I have the desire to lose weight and just get off the couch. Thanks guys! Ttyl!

If this happens one more time . . .

Anyone know a good cell phone service provider? This is the second time that we worked with someone at AT&T and I am about ready to switch providers. We went in there today to get my phone moved to Karl's plan, which we had to get a form filled out by my mom (well, kinda :), it helps when I can sign like mom; it's not like I didn't have her permission) in order to do so. We walked in and talked to this guy, gave him the form, and we thought that he understodd what we needed to be done and he just started going. We got to the point where I would pick out a phone and he started getting stuff ready and I re-asked him, after he wanted to know what number I wanted to use for it, if my phone was now on Karl's plan and he just went crazy on us. Basically he said that we never told him that that is what we wanted. He was very rude, basically saying that it was our fault that he did all this work for nothing. It was very disheartening and I really wanted to tell him to forge...

New Journey . . . Diamond Club

What does it take to make a diamond? Any ideas? According to Wikipedia, you know the source for all things, a diamond is "formed at high temperature[s] and pressure". Karl and I are excited to announce that we will be taking part in journey. A journey that will, hopefully, push us to Diamond. It will take a lot of work but we are excited for this opportunity for our team. What is Diamond Club? Why is this so exciting? Maybe this video will explain it better. Diamond Club creates a great opportunity for EVERYONE! It allows Karl and I to travel to areas that want to grow and also allows for new members to receive additional products with their enrollment and subsequent LRP orders. Free stuff??? Yes, please!!! It really is a great opportunity for everyone on our team. We are looking forward to the immense growth that will happen because of this wonderful opportunity. So you may be asking, how do I get involved? What does this look like exactly? Basically we...

Writer's Corner Number 8

Typed from written Journal Entry: I thought I’d change it up a bit and try writing in journal form tonight. I am also curious to see the difference in length of writing for both writing formats. Dr. Semingson suggested incorporating pictures into our journal writings/posts. I don’t have any pics from growing up – they are all at my dad’s house in Michigan – but I can start adding new pics from Alaska, especially when it comes time to talk about our honeymoon adventures there. Today I want to start by talking about earthquakes. I want to preface this “talk” with a story from when I moved to Texas. Not long into the start of my 7th grade year we practice emergency drills. I remember one of my teachers talking about what to do in case of an emergency: crouch down with your head near a wall and cover your head. I remember thinking that getting near a wall wouldn’t be the safest thing in the world but I didn’t argue – I didn’t know what that emergency drill was for. Now that I’m olde...
