Motherhood Movement, Part II

Last week I started sharing my thoughts from an Instagram story I stumbled upon. Here is part II.   "There is a movement of mothers, feeling pulled back to the forgotten skills of their great-grandmother's generation." @siloandsage When we were really little, I remember going to my paternal great-grandmother's house - especially playing games there with my sister. More recent memories with her included visits in her home and celebrating her 100th birthday among family. Those were many years ago now. The short story is that I don't have too many memories with my great-grandmother that were long lasting BUT I do have MANY, many beautiful memories with my maternal grandmother. -Surviving tornadoes in her basement and playing Can't Stop. -Toasted tomato sandwiches. YUM! -Her teeth popping out when she laughed too hard. This happened quite often. -Riding Mr. Freeze with her as a teenager - did I mention she was 60+ years older than me??? I seriously could go on an...

The truth about Candida . . . Are you ready for this?

Can you believe it? We're already in week 2 of February - the week of Valentine's Day. Woohoo! Except for the chocolate - it's going to be tough but we can do it! Since January we've been trying our best to eat whole foods and reevaluate our lifestyle. We started meal planning and using www.plantoeat.com to help us get our grocery list together each week. We had been getting our food at HEB but I was finally introduced to San Angelo's Green Grocers and . . . I'm in love! I literally did all my shopping there last week, was able to stay on budget AND get organic and gluten free foods. Yay!!! So excited to have this as a resource. We began this change because of a competition that we are a part of through doTERRA but also because I need this. We need this. And we've already seen great results. Karl has dropped 13 pounds through this process so far and I have gone down 12. It amazes me how quickly guys can drop weight without "trying too hard". ...

Hysterosalpingogram Results & Where Do We Go From Here . . .

Hello all! We've finally got settled from our trip to Salt Lake. That was a wonderful trip filled with lots of learning and fun - will post more later. For tonight's post I'd like to share about the procedure I had done before flying out for our trip on Tuesday. I'd like to explain what I understand about the test and what I experienced during my procedure. Basically the test is administered to see if you have any blockages in your Fallopian Tubes and/or any abnormalities in the uterus, such as endemetriosis or cysts. This is done by inserting a catheter into your cervix with a balloon on the end. The doctor fills the balloon to expand your uterus, takes some x-rays, then squirts the dye into your uterus. After taking some more pictures and watching the quick movement of the dye into your uterus, they can tell if there is any abnormalities. Once I had been checked in and paid for the procedure (they want their money up front), I sat in the waiting room for about 2...

Lifestyle Change

I'd like to take a moment to share the lifestyle change that Karl and I haven been taking part in. Before I share what we are doing, let me take a minute to share why we decided to change: 1) Overall health - Not only does this affect our chances of conceiving but also longevity of life 2) Financial health - We want to ensure that we are getting the most out of our money each month and being responsible with our food intake is one way to do so. 3) Spiritual health - It may be weird to think about, but returning to the basics has provided a spiritual change, as well. We have more opportunities to lean on Him since this is all new to us. Not only that but we are also learning more about, and accepting, that He has put things here for us for a purpose. How did we get started? Well, we have done a few weight loss challenges in the past and they have been ok - losing weight but not life changing. We began the summer on a cruise and - you guessed it - we both gained quite a bit of ...
