Yes, it is true.
I was able to finish "Brain Rules" today so herein lies the rest of the book's points for you.
Rule #10: Vision trumps all other senses. I don't even know what to write for this one - this chapter blew my mind! Basically, vision trumps all other senses! It's amazing how our brain works. Basically, your brain creates much of what we "see" on it's own, without taking into account what we are actually looking at. Say what? Yeah, part of what we see is based off of past experiences. Weird, right? Just read the chapter - you will be amazed!
Rule #11: Male and female brains are different. This chapter was short but I felt that it had some good stuff to it. Basically Medina goes into the details of our DNA, how each woman has two x-chromosomes and men have one x- and one y-chromosome. Easy enough if you paid attention in biology. What I didn't realize is the the majority of our brain's make-up comes from the x-chromosome. So basically the only thing that guys bring to the table is the opportunity to be a boy. :)
Rule #12: We are powerful and natural explorers. Just that. Period. Our best learning comes when we are exploring. There have been many studies and experiments done with babies to prove this. It is very interesting.
Sorry that my thoughts aren't that GREAT but it really is hard to summarize. There is just so much information as well as technical vernacular. He does do a good job of explaining everything, though, which I really appreciated.
Now it's on to another book. Hmm . . . what to pick? I already have three books ready to pick from, just need to start one.
Random thought: Looking forward to Karl getting home tonight! Probably won't get on here until after he leaves. Workshop Monday, meeting Tuesday, and then leaving to go to Six Flags with the in-laws. Woohoo! :) Adios!
