Day 9 - Small World

This is totally random but this weekend when we went to Abilene I was reminiscing on my childhood [actually adolescence] and I thought back to a friend that I hadn't seen probably since graduation - Kourtney Keefer. I looked her up on good ole fb to tell her hi and that I was thinking about her and saw that she got married back in October to a guy that I went to college with! Talk about a small world! I still can't wrap my mind around it - so stinkin' blown away by this. I had to tell somebody other than Karl so this is my trying to tell everybody - believe me I will be texting ppl tomorrow - so crazy!

Another thing that I have realized lately is how many people are having babies around us [or have already had babies]. Just last week two of our friends had healthy babies, Ainsley Taylor Badgeley and Jonah Scott Heinze! And I have a friend due in November, one due in October, and I just found out about another - definitely been in the baby mood lately. Can you blame me?!?!?! But we have to wait until after school starts this year to even think about it - just to get insurance and all that take care of. Plus we do have quite a few projects to tackle before we can even think about adding another little person into this house.

I have really enjoyed working with Karl this weekend - if you don't know this about Karl, he is an expert packer when it comes to anything and everything. And it drives me insane because he will move and remove and remove things until he can get it just the way he likes. I have to have a lot of patience because I am of the mentality that we just throw things in there, hope for the best, and then move on. That's what I love about him - my little organizer! He was so busy today. After church and volleyball practice, I came home to him already having the truck semi-packed down for a trip to the storage room. We finished loading the truck together then jumped on in [Karl conveniently had filled the passenger's seat so I could sit real close to him - smart man] and headed on down to our storage room. When we got there, you guessed it, he unpacked part of the storage room and then repacked it with our old and new stuff. When he got done the same amount of room was available as there was when we started. He is soooo good. When we came back from the storage room I began working on school things [grad and elem] while he continued to work on our house and - yes, he blows me away - he reorganized our storage room at our house. Have I mentioned that he is so good. Then he brought in all his tools and went through them, organizing them into his little tackle boxes. I just love this guy!

Exercise: None to report of, other than helping Karl load and unload the truck.

Word: This morning we had a gentleman by the name of Scott Moore speak. He spoke to us about his present learnings from God and where he is in terms of his walk. He has been trying to land a youth minister position that has the potential to move him out of Texas and he shared of an instance where he felt that God was telling him to go to a certain church but then the church, who built him up, turned him down for another applicant only to later ask him to be their youth minister after the other applicant backed out. Basically, from all of that, he realized that he had been faithful in his acceptance of following God's will for his life and stepping into the ministerial role but realized that God has something for him, as well, as God is faithful. This is a new idea for me, though I have heard it many times before. When God lays things on our heart and we walk on His desires in faithfulness, he will meet us their, being faithful to His promises, even if we don't receive them when or how we originally "plan" to. This talk made me stop and think where God has been faithful in my life. I think the two biggest areas where God has been faithful in my life is when he gave me Karl and when he allowed me to get my job at TLCA. I had prayed for both and the Lord was faithful to me. But now I think . . . what has He laid on my heart for now? I have inclinations that I need to write a book . . . but is this of God? Is it alright if He has laid nothing for me now?

Prayer Request: The son of a friend from work was in a pretty rough motorcycle accident this morning and completely separated his shoulder. As soon as he arrived to the ER they were prepping him for immediate emergency surgery. I haven't heard anything since then but please keep them in your prayers - his name is James.

Also, please keep my dad in your prayers, as well. I haven't heard anything from him about his pre-surgical appointment on Friday, which somewhat worries me. I need to put it all in God's hands.

Well, only 9 more school days left. Last whole week of school! Woohoo!

If this happens one more time . . .

Anyone know a good cell phone service provider? This is the second time that we worked with someone at AT&T and I am about ready to switch providers. We went in there today to get my phone moved to Karl's plan, which we had to get a form filled out by my mom (well, kinda :), it helps when I can sign like mom; it's not like I didn't have her permission) in order to do so. We walked in and talked to this guy, gave him the form, and we thought that he understodd what we needed to be done and he just started going. We got to the point where I would pick out a phone and he started getting stuff ready and I re-asked him, after he wanted to know what number I wanted to use for it, if my phone was now on Karl's plan and he just went crazy on us. Basically he said that we never told him that that is what we wanted. He was very rude, basically saying that it was our fault that he did all this work for nothing. It was very disheartening and I really wanted to tell him to forge...

New Journey . . . Diamond Club

What does it take to make a diamond? Any ideas? According to Wikipedia, you know the source for all things, a diamond is "formed at high temperature[s] and pressure". Karl and I are excited to announce that we will be taking part in journey. A journey that will, hopefully, push us to Diamond. It will take a lot of work but we are excited for this opportunity for our team. What is Diamond Club? Why is this so exciting? Maybe this video will explain it better. Diamond Club creates a great opportunity for EVERYONE! It allows Karl and I to travel to areas that want to grow and also allows for new members to receive additional products with their enrollment and subsequent LRP orders. Free stuff??? Yes, please!!! It really is a great opportunity for everyone on our team. We are looking forward to the immense growth that will happen because of this wonderful opportunity. So you may be asking, how do I get involved? What does this look like exactly? Basically we...

Writer's Corner Number 8

Typed from written Journal Entry: I thought I’d change it up a bit and try writing in journal form tonight. I am also curious to see the difference in length of writing for both writing formats. Dr. Semingson suggested incorporating pictures into our journal writings/posts. I don’t have any pics from growing up – they are all at my dad’s house in Michigan – but I can start adding new pics from Alaska, especially when it comes time to talk about our honeymoon adventures there. Today I want to start by talking about earthquakes. I want to preface this “talk” with a story from when I moved to Texas. Not long into the start of my 7th grade year we practice emergency drills. I remember one of my teachers talking about what to do in case of an emergency: crouch down with your head near a wall and cover your head. I remember thinking that getting near a wall wouldn’t be the safest thing in the world but I didn’t argue – I didn’t know what that emergency drill was for. Now that I’m olde...
